Design Quality, Cost, and Manufacturing improvements to Laundry products in a team oriented environment. Received training as a Design for Six Sigma Greenbelt Used Six Sigma processes to implement projects. Coordination with management to ensure meeting cost reduction and quality improvement goals. Maytag Certified Greenbelt in Design for Lean Sigma: Quality Project: Discovered new failure mode and root cause for premature failure of a rubber component. Identified a low capital solution using a control change rather than a hardware change resulting in $384,963 annual savings. Cost Project: Reduce the cost of the Video User’s Guide resulted in $116,161 annual savings Cost Project: Eliminate plastic spacer on back of washing machine. $100,819 annual savings. Cost and Quality Projects: Quality/Manufacturing project: Adding features to design that will enable the manufacturing operator to correctly position a rubber component. Correct placement will prevent premature failures. $268,241 annual savings. Talked to the customer to understand root cause of quality issues and to evaluate design enhancements. Managed projects from concept to implementation. Coordinate with manufacturing to run pilot runs for newly designed components. Coordinate with the Reliability and Performance Labs to ensure the full testing of any new component. Coordinate with the Quality group to resolve emerging issues. Experience with injection molding, and sheet metal.
