Daily Duties at Value Structures, Inc.:
Performed stress and deflection calculations on fabricated structures of steel and aluminum for traffic control and lighting to AASHTO requirements; determined related dead, ice, and wind loads. Interpreted state, county, and municipal specs, drawings, and plans to obtain related information. Oversaw preparation of proposal drawings for customer approval. Recommended alternative designs using standard parts and assemblies saving cost and/or throughput. Took opportunities to use simpler or fewer designs. Answered technical inquiries from state, county, and municipal personnel and their consultants, especially for approval of calculations or drawings. Provided PE-stamped calculations and drawings as needed. Demonstrated deflection and permanent set testing on trolley poles required for customer acceptance.
