What they like about Philadelphia Insurance:
You give high priority to hiring firms with prestige. Market reputation and prestige of a firm may be determined through on-line research, and conversations with individuals working in your target industry. Note that firms "in the public eye" receive a great deal more critical publicity and attention than those operating with more anonymity. So as you assess your employment opportunities, be sure to seek out the positive aspects of the firm's reputation in addition to noting negative publicity the company may have received.

Climbers' Joblogs at Philadelphia Insurance:
What an employer can expect from me.
I have over 21 years of experience with Commercial Underwriting from small business to middle market accounts with premiums of over one million dollars annually.I place a high value on integrity and professionalism in the work place, but also feel that having fun at work increases moral and helps everyone to feel welcomed and energized to work at the highest level possible. My work ethic is very strong and production of new business is what excites me the most about underwriting. Risk analysis is one of my strong suits, determining hazards and controls in place is a skill I enjoy and excel at when reviewing new business and negotiating with an agent about exposures, pricing, etc.
I work very well in a team environment and also on my own with very little supervision. I welcome questions from others on the team and will seek out guidance from others as well.
I have spent several years in management and that is a great position for me, but what I really enjoy is underwriting. I could easily spend my entire career in a Senior Underwriting role because that is where all the action is pursuing new business and dealing with the agents on a daily basis.
I am extremely loyal and the several moves on my resume have not been my preference, but rather a result of the changing economy. In all cases except one, the company has moved out of the state resulting in my moving to another company to stay in Colorado. I would love to be able to land a position with a company and work there for the rest of my career. I also will be more mobile in a couple of years when my daughter graduates high school.
I a ready to give 110 percent to the employer that sees the value I bring to the company and gives me a position. I will make a significant contribution to the profit and growth of a company and the sooner, the better.
