Daily Duties at Ville Platte Medical Center:

Reported to the CFO. Responsibilities include overseeing and managing the Health Information Management and Transcription Departments. Maintained and scheduled employees in Kronos. Oversee 2 full-time Transcriptionist, 2 PRN Transcriptionist, 3 Coders, and 3 HIM Clerks. Work unbilled report on a daily basis to resolve any issues with final billing. Perform quarterly DRG audits on our “high-risk” DRG’s assigned by our corporate affiliates. Conduct audits of each coder’s work for validity and proficiency. Conduct monthly chart audits to ensure adherence to Joint Commission and CMS criteria pertaining to timeliness of History and Physicals, authentication, dating and timing of physician orders, and timeliness of post-operative progress and operative notes. Monitor and maintain statistical trending data for timeliness of history and physicals and completion of medical records by doctor. Conduct monthly Joint Commission Readiness rounds. Conduct quarterly Medical Record Committee meetings and maintain minutes of meetings. Conduct monthly departmental meetings and maintain minutes of each meeting. Plans, organizes, supervises and directs the Health Information Services staff and processes. Develop and implement policies and procedures in accordance with the established policies of the hospital, state, and federal regulatory agencies. Follow guidelines described in the Code of Conduct Ethics and Compliance Program. Coded and abstracted all inpatient charts during the absence of our Inpatient Coder. Provide back up coding for Inpatient and Outpatient. Assist with Concurrent Coding. Oversee and direct one employee within Medical Staff Credentialing for our facility. Revamped our peer review and credentialing process to adhere to Joint Commissions updated standards and criteria. Conduct audits of credentialing files to ensure files are maintained properly. Attend Medical Executive and Board of Trustee meetings. Conduct quality reviews for each physician to report to Quality Council on a quarterly basis. Privacy Officer, Medical Staff Credentialing Manager.
