Daily Duties at John's Incredible Pizza Company:

John’s Incredible Pizza Company, Bakersfield, California Director of Operations 1/2000- 1/2005 This five year old 50,000 square foot family dining and entertainment complex was both showing it’s age and the effects of deferred maintenance when I first arrived. We built California’s largest indoor electric Go-cart tract, as well as 742 seats for dining and 188 arcade games. I assembled a team that restored the store to pristine glory. We increased the bottom line from 2.9% to 19.9% and set several new sales records, all without a single price increase. Our team has grown the business from 4.3 million in 2001 to 34.5 million for 2004. We won the Annual Reader’s Poll in our local paper in three different categories-best restaurant, best place to take a family and best place to have a party. We were the first restaurant in history to achieve a perfect score of 100% from the Bakersfield Health Department. I captained the opening of units three, four, five and six. These newer units are producing at the seven million per year level. All of my new store openings were brought in on time and at or under budget. My manager turnover was 42% in 2002, 21% in 2003 and only 11% in 2004.

What they like about John's Incredible Pizza Company:

Working in an organization that is technologically advanced, creative, and innovative is critical in your assessment of hiring companies. Less important to you are stability of the organization, the length of time an organization has been in business, and the business' plans for the future. You prefer a fast-moving company that will take risks to achieve its goals and objectives. The length of time the company has been in business is irrelevant. Maintaining status quo is unnecessary. You thrive on change, uncertainty and the upside of potential business risks, especially those associated with innovation. Stability for the long haul is not nearly as important as is working in an atmosphere that is charged with a sense of urgency and constant change.
