Daily Duties at Stem Collect:

ETL Developer / Project Lead STEM Collect is a company that provides adult stem cell collection and banking service to the general adult population by utilizing it’s joint ventured partner’s, NeoStem [AMEX:NBS], proprietary system. Team member of three working on a project to build a Data Warehouse (using NeoStem’s framework and schemas), which would integrate all the client data for accounting & research purposes. Data comes from different sources which includes Policies, Premiums and Claims. The data is extracted, transformed and then loaded into the target database according to the business requirements. Flat Files, Oracle tables, DB2 tables were part of the source data, which comes on a daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly basis. The repository is on Oracle database. The warehouse was designed using star schema to support the ragged hierarchy and confirmed dimensions. As an ETL Developer: * Participates in analysis, requirements gathering and documentation of functional and technical specifications. * Utilizes Informatica Power Center 8.x/7.x tools including Source Analyzer, Data warehousing designer, Mapping Designer & Mapplets, and Transformations. * Imports various Sources such as Flat Files, Excel, Relational tables and Created Targets. * Uses various types of transformations to implement simple and complex business logic. Works with various transformations such as connected & unconnected lookups, Router, Expressions, source qualifier, aggregators, filters, sequence Generator, Joiner etc. * Creates and Configures Workflows, Worklets, and Sessions to transport the data to target using Informatica Workflow Manager. * Prepares detailed Business Analysis documents, ETL design documents, and unit test plans for the mappings. * Utilizes UNIX scripts for screen door programs. * Uses AutoSys for scheduling the Workflows. * Designs and Develops Oracle PL/SQL stored procedures. * Migrates Mappings, Sessions, Workflows from Development to Test and then to Production environment. * Participates in Unit, System, Performance, Concurrent and limited QA testing. * Implemented slowly changing dimensions methodology to keep track of historical data. As a Project Lead: * Generates weekly & monthly progress reports using Gantt charts, spreadsheets and other appropriate tools; including the creation & tracking of project schedule for the project team & senior management. * Provides pre-defined reports and adhoc reporting capability against the data warehouse, for management information needs related to customer measurement. * Supports sales staff of five for industry requirement specifications in direct sales, contracts, marketing design specifications, meeting agendas, minutes and status reports. * Collaborates with vendors to identify products that are cost effective & meet company guidelines to be used in mission critical events. * Uses Business Objects 6.X extensively to analyze and create reports.
