Daily Duties at Nyc Department Of Employment:
Duties consisted of computer repair, troubleshooting and maintenance. Keeping PCs virus-free and eliminating errors such as file and printer sharing. Utilized software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook MS Exchange and Novell GroupWise to assist agency personnel in creating databases and managing email. Answering and resolving calls at agency helpdesk, using HEAT call logging to track client calls and technician activity. Used FoxPro regularly to assist contractors with agency-created databases, mostly done remotely. Also helped with administration of the agency’s Novell LAN/WAN such as creating and disabling user group accounts, password maintenance, etc. Installation of modems and LAN adapter cards, and many other peripherals. Other duties included analyzing and repairing problems such as application errors, and software upgrades. Spent last year of employment promoted to head of network maintenance and administration for one of the agency’s sub-contracting sites, managing 4 employees and supporting approximately 80 users.
