Daily Duties at Zurich Financial Services:

Installed, configured and administered 40+ databases running on twenty SQL 6.5/7.0/2000 and Oracle 8.0 in 24x7 production and development environments in both clustered and non-clustered servers spread across three major locations. Maintained logical and physical backups of all databases using full backup, differential backup and regular transaction log backup scheme to backup large SQL Server databases and Export and Recovery Manager to backup Oracle databases. Regularly refreshed databases into development and test environments. Evaluated various database management tools for performance, monitoring, change management and administration. Documented database design guidelines, change management procedure, hot backup setup and database configuration. Managed software licenses for databases and tools. • Designed integrated data model for reserving application and eliminated data redundancy using ERWin/Modelmart. • Developed DTS packages, Stored Procedures, Views and Triggers for data migration and integration. Maintained the scripts in Visual Source Safe for version control. • Spearheaded disaster recovery management project to setup failover site in Bermuda for all business critical applications. Actively involved design, planning, evaluation, implementation, testing and documentation of SQL Server replication, log shipping and Oracle multi master replication setup. • Led development team to migration applications from Windows NT to Windows 2000 and Active Directory and improved stability and performance. • Improved performance and data availability by implementing merge and transactional replication of SQL Server 7.0/2000 databases in various locations. • Authored automated monitoring scripts for database growth, scheduled jobs, database maintenance jobs, bottlenecks using SQL Server Alerts, Stored Procedures, Windows Scripting and VBScript. • Analyzed and troubleshoot performance issues with reserving application improving overall performance by 30%. Resolved a serious deadlock issue in new application being developed by analyzing all three tiers of the application using SQL Profiler, Windows System Monitor and Query Analyzer. • Established a standard naming convention for database objects, created templates for writing stored procedures and triggers.
