Daily Duties at Committee On Appropriations, U.S. House Of Representatives:
Served as senior House of Representatives staff member responsible for appropriations oversight and funding legislation for the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Intelligence Community, for agencies and activities with annual budgets in excess of $400 billion. In support of the Subcommittee Chairman and Ranking Minority Member, directed 14-member staff in the oversight, formulation and legislative management of annual Defense Appropriations and supplemental appropriations bills – encompassing all funding for military personnel and readiness activities, weapons procurement and research and development programs; intelligence activities, and wartime military operations. Drafted Defense Appropriations and supplemental appropriations bills and managed them through all stages of the legislative process. Reviewed and negotiated proposals with Members and staff of the House and Senate, DoD and Intelligence Community agencies, the Office of Management and Budget, and other Executive branch agencies. Worked closely with Congressional authorizing committees, in particular the House and Senate Armed Services, Intelligence, and Budget Committees. Supervised Subcommittee’s liaison with Executive branch agencies and Congressional offices, and coordinated Subcommittee interaction with the media, public interest groups, and the private sector.
