Daily Duties at Maryvale Community Education:

Provided career, educational, and personal counseling services to students enrolled in literacy programs at Maryvale Community Education (MCE), Administered career inventories and assessments, Developed and presented employment skills seminars in areas such as job searching, résumé preparation, and interviewing skills, Worked one-on-one with students to develop résumés, find appropriate academic programs, and assist with job searches, Oversaw and coordinated vocational training programs including: student intake, assessment, case management, and marketing of programs, Planned and managed career fairs, Recommended and supported annual goals for adult education program, Collaborated with instructors to ensure students are meeting established goals, Met with incumbent students for screening prior to enrollment in any program, Worked closely with high school and college personnel to communicate student objectives and to aid in transition into higher education, Maintained detailed student records of services provided, action plans, follow-up, etc., Developed individualized vocational plans for students enrolled in literacy programs at MCE, Facilitated group counseling seminars/workshops on topics such as career planning, job search techniques, soft skills and self-esteem, Maintained career resource center and library including purchasing of new materials, Marketed all MCE programs via local media and MCE website, Operated as a liaison between students and local colleges, Completed all required data collection and recordkeeping for federal, state, and local grants
