Daily Duties at Ivs/Schlumberger/Soluris:
Research: Design and analysis of first low energy/high resolution critical dimension scanning electron microscope (SEM) built for newest generation semiconductor metrology. Using commercial and personally written software, evaluated prior system; designed and analyzed new column, lenses, and detection elements, sizing and placing lenses, apertures, deflectors, and stigmators for optimum results. Characterized beam and column, including spot size, resolution, and aberrations. Electron detector design and application. Greatly extended and refined practical method of measuring SEM resolution. Began program to improve image quality and speed pattern recognition using wavelet analysis. General: Supported construction of electron optical column; material choices, lens structure, construction techniques, electronics specifications, and vacuum techniques. Internal mathematics consultant. Assembly of column. Acted as technical editor with approval required on all outgoing scientific reports.
