· Acted as civil rights manager in manager’s absence on at least eight occasions since 2004, performing all assigned supervisory duties, including review and approval of Statements of Concern, complaints, and investigative reports; ensuring that effective customer service is provided; management of service center responsibility; and enforcement division reports. · Investigated complaints of discrimination and harassment in areas such as employment and housing as filed by Michigan citizens, and prepared reports demonstrating conclusions reached during investigations. · Conducted resolution/fact-finding conferences and negotiated resolutions/settlements. · Completed pre-investigation casework, including Statements of Concern and drafting formal complaints in accordance with department guidelines. · Participated actively and constructively in a team environment, including informally mentoring and training new colleagues. · Fulfilled role of Expanded Community Liaison to Muskegon, Michigan, seeking out and fostering relationships with individuals and agencies in a community wherein the department has no office and entailing sensitivity to salient local civil rights issues. · Contributed to Organizational Development Team activities designed to improve colleague morale and requiring initiative and ability to balance multiple ongoing projects simultaneously, including compilation, edit, and publication of ODT Corner newsletter. · Assisted in training Oracle CMS database application to new colleagues. · Coordinated and performed outreach and education activities to a variety of companies and organizations, including extended participation in the Motor City Casino diversity trainings, EEOC's TAPS trainings, and outreach and education related to the Expanded Community Liaison initiative. · Aided in the development of a draft diversity plan pursuant to the Building Inclusive Communities project. · Functioned as a designated housing investigator resulting in attendance at HUD-sponsored trainings and in practical familiarity with HUD FHAP contract requirements.
