Daily Duties at Carrier Air Wing Eight:
Provided supervision and mentorship to 7 office personnel in the maintenance of 39 staff personnel field records and pay and allowances. Drafted routine correspondence, processed unclassified electronic message traffic through Naval message system, made travel arrangements and itineraries, maintained officer equipment inventory, used references and instructions manuals, trained personnel on office procedures, used tickler follow-up files. Performed non-technical and routine matters for the Department Heads, CO and XO. Prioritized and ensured administrative requirements are performed in a timely manner, taking into account personal preference and command policy. Developed and implemented a database to track incoming correspondence from 7 departments. Screened documents for appropriate distribution and control. Meticulously evaluated and analyzed all correspondence to include awards, evaluations, instructions and messages for content, format, grammar, spelling and punctuation according to the Department of the Navy Correspondence Regulations. Prepared weekly training lectures for office personnel in order to improve customer service and assist in personal advancement. Processed official and personal incoming/outgoing mail and maintained mail registers.
