Daily Duties at Pennsylvania State University Hershey Medical Center:
Oriented to nursing employment in the neuroscience intermediate care unit. Receiving an introduction to complex surgical and neurosurgical patients, who are either transitioning from the intensive care unit to the floor, too unstable for the floor but not critical enough for intensive care, or for patients waiting placement in long-term acute care facilities. No ventilators; occasional contact with long term artificial airways (tracheostomies). Limited hemodynamic monitoring (occasional central venous, arterial, and intracranial pressure monitoring).
