Facilitate the scheduling of classes and classrooms, the faculty hiring process, and curriculum changes. Schedule appointments and organize department chair’s calendar. Compose and proofread correspondence and catalog copy. Attend departmental and Curriculum Committee meetings, and prepare and distribute minutes. Provide support to faculty with hardware/software problems (Macintosh or PC) Control and administer the department’s operating budget and its various state and foundation accounts. Prepare reports for the chair and the dean’s office. Make travel arrangements for the chair, faculty, job candidates and visiting lecturers. Process travel claims and paperwork. Develop and edit web pages for the department and its various clubs and organizations. Manage competing priorities, room and scheduling changes, tight deadlines, and sudden changes in policy, plans and procedures. Create brochures and fliers, using a variety of software. Requisition office supplies and equipment, and oversee inventory control. Hire, supervise, train, and evaluate office assistants, and coordinate their schedules.
