Daily Duties at Michigan Department Of Corrections:
As a member of the housing division of the Department of Corrections; my obligations were to supervise the prisoners within their housing units. Supervising prisoners by applying the rules and regulations of the department and facility, as stated in the policy and procedures for the Housing division. Observing prisoner movement and activities in the assigned area. Interviewing and assigning prisoners for work assignments in the housing unit. Performing daily security checks and searches of prisoners, their living quarters and common areas of the housing unit for contraband. Preparing accountability count forms of prisoner’s whereabouts. Enforcing corrective discipline procedure for rule violations. Prepare written reports and requisitions. Transport prisoners for legal matters and medical needs. Assuring the safety and securities of the staff, prisoners, the facility, and the public at all times.
