Daily Duties at Erlanger Medical Center:
Worked an average of 30 to 40 hours per week throughout the school semester, and worked as many as 60 hours per week in the summer. Gained extensive surgical experience utilizing my knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the body. Work required physical stamina to remain scrubbed throughout lengthy procedures. Worked in large city hospital gaining assisting experience in various surgical specialties including; orthopaedic, trauma, cardiovascular, plastics, gynecological, oncological, and general surgery. Assisted the surgeon in various ways during the operation including: Scrubbed throughout total knee and hip replacement surgeries on a regular basis, assistance with placement of the knee/hip throughout procedure. -Operation of camera equipment during endoscopic procedures. -Retraction of tissue, nerves, throughout various procedures. -Holding of the heart during bypass surgery for anastomosis of vessels. -Other duties throughout the operation as requested by the physician.
