Daily Duties at Passap America Inc.:
Passap America was the sole North American & Caribbean importer and distributor of a line of highly engineered, high precision, mechanical and electronic machines made in Switzerland used for knitting fabric. The business was acquired from the Swiss parent in 1996, and its operations consolidated in Fort Myers from Salt Lake City, Atlanta and Orlando. In late 1999 the Swiss manufacturer (MADAG of Dietekon Switzerland) announced, due to worldwide changes in its markets, it would, after 60 years of operating, discontinue manufacture of these machines. Subsequently Passap America too had to wind down its operations. ACCOMPLISHMENTS: • Negotiated terms of the 1996 acquisition from MADAG • Doubled sales in each of the first four years • Implemented education programs to support customer satisfaction and after market sales • Developed technical support into a profit center • Developed programs to encourage sales of accessories • Planned and managed consolidation of facilities in Fort Myers. • Developed and implemented a zero inventory model to enable an orderly shutdown
