Daily Duties at Afl Cio Organizing Institute:
Field Placement Coordinator -Girl Friday. Assisted the OI’s Field Placement Director in finding OI apprentices a placement with an affiliate union. -Once assignation had taken place, was then the main point of contact for both the host union and the apprentices. -Handled all the logistics regarding apprentices being processed as an AFL employee, this entailed making sure all the proper employee paperwork had been fully & accurately completed, i.e. the tax forms, I-9 forms, etc. Handled all matters/questions regarding AFL's human resources policies, including sexual harassment, appropriate workplace behavior, as well as payroll policies, healthcare & benefit issues, etc. -Liaison with the affiliate union regarding any job related issues/concerns occurring with the apprentices, & if needed, counseled the apprentice on expectations while in the field. -Responsible for generating bi-weekly reports from an apprenticeship database using queries/MS Access. Heavy use of MS Access & Excel. -This position involved the exercising of major problem solving & diplomacy skills
