Highlights:

My name is Tom Westman, and I am seeking an editorial position with a publishing organization. With a very strong English background, I have a foundation of experience in education, writing, editing, and research. My teaching experience includes one year working as a university course instructor, two years working as a high school instructor, and one year working as an elementary school instructor. My writing and editing experience includes three years as a writing instructor, one year as a writing lab technician, one year as an editor for an online scientific journal, and six years of academic writing. I have also worked for one year as a research specialist. I have been fortunate to be involved with very meaningful and successful organizations. The Midtown Center is an educational foundation that can claim close to a 100 percent high school graduation rate for the young men who attend its programs. The Heights School is an academy for boys that is dedicated to both academic excellence and the development of the whole person. There teachers are given considerable freedom to take ownership of their role as a model for their students and to cultivate their academic and personal interests. Finally, The Impact Group provides relocation research and support services to the families of employees at client businesses who are being transferred to a new community. This organizational success is complemented by significant personal achievements and interests. At the University of Dallas, I was a member of Student Government as the Special Events Commissioner (’97-’98) and as a Senior Class Representative (’98-’99). I studied abroad for a semester in Rome, Italy through the University of Dallas Rome Program (1997). I performed for eight years in over twenty theater productions. I was a President’s Club Member for a summer of cutlery sales with Vector Marketing Corporation (1997). I mentored students through the Midtown One-on-One program (’99-’00), and taught young students English during the summer in Mexico (1996) and in Spain (2001). I am also an avid reader and a fan of baseball. I am convinced that my skills and my experience stand as a foundation for success as an editor. I hope we can meet to discuss a partnership that would contribute to your success. Thank you for your time and consideration.
